Q: How do I track my shipment?

Tracking number from FEDEX, USPS, UPS has to be added, will be emailed to you immediately, which will let you track your package.

IMPORTANT :

The plants will be left at your doorstep by fedex/usps and if left outside, for a longer period of time, during the hot summers or cold winters-the plant might be permanently damaged. So please make sure somebody is there to receive the plants and kept in a safe cool place immediately.

Q: When will the plants be shipped?

You should receive your plants mostly within 7-15 days. Plants usually will be shipped on Monday or Tuesday after we receive the order. The reason we ship the plants on a Monday or Tuesday is to enable the plants to reach you within the same week. Plants are perishable items and will not be happy if left in the warehouses over the weekend.

(The shipping dates can be subject to changes, due to various extraneous circumstances-like weather)

Q: What if the plants die /are defective/are destroyed or damaged (or are the wrong item)during the shipment?

We try to make returns/replacement as easy as possible. On most of our returns on ebay and amazon, we give free replacement /shipping/ refunds.

However, please let us know ASAP (within 2 days of receipt of the shipment) what is wrong with the plant and also request you to send us some details and few pictures. After review, we will ship you a new plant within the next 15-30 days or issue a refund- as per your request.

Return shipping will be paid by the customer and free shipping will be decided after the review of all details.

Q: What kind of guarantee do I get?

We try to make returns/replacement as easy as possible. On most of our returns on ebay and amazon, we give free return shipping/refunds.

We offer a warranty of 30 days, from the receipt of the product. If the plant dies within 30 days, we issue replacement or refund.

We request the customer to provide details of planting with 2-3 pictures of the plants.

Any damage/dislike/dispute should be notified within 24 hours for returns for semi bare-root. Return shipping will be paid by the customer.

Q: Are the plants shipped in their containers or bare root?

Most of our plants are shipped with their pots, which is clearly stated in the description of the plant. Some are shipped semi bare-root, which is a separate category, by itself.

  1. Plants shipped in pot The plants are shipped in their plastic pots (sometimes in grow bags) with soil, so that they reach the destination, safe and secure. The plants might look little wilted, on arrival from their journey, but will perk up within 7-15 days.
  2. Plants shipped semi bare-root Here the plant is shipped with the roots taken out of the pot/ground, and the roots are then wrapped in moist paper, with or without soil. The roots are wrapped in a moist medium(peat moss) which is then covered with some kind of plastic to hold the moisture. Paper with moisture will keep the plant alive, during the journey.

The biggest advantage of semi bare-root method is the cost of shipping, which is much lower. Fall and winter is the best time to plant bare-root plants, and generally the best time to plant overall.

Once the plants are received, roots should be given a soak immediately for 30 minutes and planted immediately. We also trim the plant before shipping to reduce stress during shipping.

Any damage/dislike/dispute should be notified within 24 hrs for returns, for bareroot.

Ps also it is very safe to ship semi bare-root in fall/winter

Q: what are the different sizes of plants?

The plants are shipped as liners and in 1, 2, 3 or 5 gallon pots or 1, 2, 3 or 5 gallon size plants shipped semi bare-root.

Liners/Starter Plants- A liner is wrapped around 6-24 month old plant, shipped in its pot which is 3"-3 1/2". These are very well rooted plants. The liner plants size can range from 6”-15” in length.

A good analogy, in human terminology, would be a liner being like a teenager-neither too big nor too small, mature but not yet an adult!

We ship a lot of liners, to smaller nurseries all over the country, in  size ranging from 8" to 20" tall.

  • 1 GALLON : around 2 Yr old plant in 1 gallon pot ( usually between 8-18” tall)
  • 2 GALLON : 2-3 yr old plant in 2 gallon pot ( usually between 15-24” tall)
  • 3/5 GALLON : 3-5 yr old plants in 3 gallon pot ( usually between 2-3 ft tall)

Sometimes the plants may be shipped in smaller sized pots for safety/convenience.

You can also request a bigger size plants. Please call us with your needs, on our phone 770 679 9630 ( between 8am-5 pm EST, mon-fri) or email us, anytime, at cs@pixiesgardens.com

Q: Why do the plants look dead and without any leaves in the Fall and Winter?

The plant sheds all its leaves every Fall/winter. It is the nature's way to help plants put on their survival mode -to conserve water and cope with the harsh cold conditions which is similar to hibernation process. Most of the water is stored in the roots, which takes care of the plants minimal needs as it does not have any leaves, flowers or fruits.

Q: Can we delay the shipment ?

You can delay the shipment to the date desired by you.

Q: Can the order be cancelled?

The order can be cancelled anytime before it has been shipped for a full refund. Once the tracking number is printed, we cannot issue any refunds.

Q: Do you have a checklist, before buying plants?

Yes

  1. Check your plant hardiness zone -click on this link to find out your zone http://planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/PHZMWeb
  2. Check sun/shade requirements of the plant and pick a similar spot, in your yard, for the plant.
  3. Check the desired soil (soil can always be amended) and prepare the spot ie digging ( dig twice the size in width and depth one time, the size of the pot)
  4. Avoid fertilization in fall and winter. Also don’t fertilize a newly transplanted plant. Apply fertilizer 15-25 days after transplanting.

Q: Can I send the plant as a gift?

Yes and we can include a personalized card or add a message to your packing slip.
