    Plant Care Tips

🌳 Ginkgo Biloba (Maidenhair Tree) Planting & Care Guide

    🌿 Planting

Ginkgo biloba trees thrive in well-drained soil and partial shade or full sun. Prepare a hole twice the width of the root ball and deep enough to allow the roots to be level with the ground. Backfill the hole with soil, press gently to remove air pockets, and thoroughly water the ginkgo tree. Ginkgo biloba, also known as the maidenhair tree, can be planted in both urban and residential areas due to its resilience.

    💧 Watering

During the first growing season, newly planted ginkgo trees require deep watering once or twice a week. Once established, Ginkgo biloba trees are drought-tolerant and only need watering during extended dry periods. Mature maidenhair trees prefer slightly dry soil and should not be overwatered. Young trees, however, need consistent watering to develop strong and healthy roots.

    🌼 Fertilizing

Apply a slow-release, balanced fertilizer early in spring. A light mid-summer feeding can help maintain vibrant foliage color and overall vitality. Avoid late-season fertilization, as it can encourage tender growth that may not withstand winter. Feed Ginkgo biloba trees sparingly to support long-term strength rather than rapid growth.

    ✂️ Pruning

Ginkgo maidenhair trees require minimal pruning. Maintain structure by removing dead, damaged, or crossing branches in late winter or early spring. Since Ginkgo biloba trees grow with a naturally upright, symmetrical shape, excessive pruning isn’t necessary. As the tree matures, light shaping and cleanup of lower limbs will help maintain a tidy form.
