    Plant Care Tips

🌱 How to Plant & Care for Your Kousa Dogwood Tree

    🌿 Planting

Choose a location with well-drained, slightly acidic soil. The Kousa Dogwood thrives in partial shade or full sun.

Dig a hole twice as wide and as deep as the root ball. Position the tree slightly above ground level, backfill with soil, and water thoroughly after planting.

    💧 Watering

Water deeply once a week during the first growing season to help establish strong roots.

After establishment, the Kousa Dogwood is moderately drought-tolerant but benefits from occasional deep watering, especially during dry periods.

    🌸 Fertilizing

Feed your tree lightly in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer (10-10-10).

Avoid over-fertilizing, as excessive nutrients can reduce blooming and weaken the tree.

    🍂 Mulching

Apply 2–3 inches of organic mulch around the base of the tree, keeping it a few inches away from the trunk.

Mulching helps retain moisture, regulate soil temperature, and suppress weeds.

    ✂️ Pruning

    Minimal pruning is needed.

In late winter, remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Light shaping after flowering can help maintain an attractive form.
