    Plant Care Tips

πŸ‘ Methley Plum Tree – Planting & Care Guide

    🌱 How to Plant

Choose a sunny location with slightly acidic to neutral, well-drained soil. Remove the Methley Plum Tree from its container and loosen the roots before planting. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and position the tree so that the graft union (the small bulge near the base) stays just above soil level. Backfill with native soil, gently firm it around the roots, and water thoroughly to settle.

    πŸ’§ Watering Instructions

During the first growing season, keep the soil consistently moist to encourage strong root growth. Once established, the Methley Plum Tree tolerates moderate drought but performs best with regular watering during dry spells and fruiting periods. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot and fungal issues.

    β˜€οΈ Light Requirements

Methley Plum Trees thrive in full sun, needing 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Proper sunlight promotes abundant blooms, healthy foliage, and high-quality fruit production. Trees planted in partial shade may produce smaller or fewer plums.

    🌿 Fertilizer Guidelines

Feed your tree in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer. Apply it evenly around the drip line, avoiding contact with the trunk. A light midsummer feeding can help maintain vigor if growth slows. Do not fertilize after midsummer, as new growth may be damaged by early frost.

    βœ‚οΈ Pruning Advice

Prune the Methley Plum Tree during its winter dormancy to enhance airflow and reduce the risk of disease. Remove dead, damaged, or crowded branches to shape the tree and encourage healthy fruiting. Lightly trim after harvest and clean up fallen fruit to maintain overall tree health and productivity.
