    Plant Care Tips

🌱 White Dogwood Tree Planting & Care Guide

    Planting

Choose a location with well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil for best results. White Dogwoods thrive in partial shade or filtered sunlight, especially in warmer regions.

Dig a hole twice as wide and deep as the root ball. Position the tree so the root ball sits slightly above ground level, then backfill with native soil. Water thoroughly after planting to settle the roots and eliminate air pockets.

    💧 Watering

During the first growing season, water deeply 2–3 times per week to help the roots establish. Once mature, water only during dry periods to maintain consistently moist (but not soggy) soil. Proper watering ensures healthy blooms and strong growth.

    🌿 Fertilizing

Feed your White Dogwood in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer (10-10-10). Avoid high-nitrogen fertilizers, as they may promote excessive leaf growth and reduce flowering. A gentle feeding schedule supports vibrant foliage and abundant blooms.

    🍂 Mulching

Apply a 2–3 inch layer of mulch around the base of the tree, keeping it a few inches away from the trunk. Mulching helps retain soil moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature, protecting the roots throughout the year.

    ✂️ Pruning

White Dogwoods require minimal pruning. In late winter or early spring, remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches before new growth begins. Light pruning helps maintain airflow and enhances the tree’s natural, graceful shape.
