    Plant Care Tips

🌸 White Althea – Single Bloom Rose of Sharon: Planting & Care Guide

    🌱 How to Plant

Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and deep enough so the plant sits at ground level. Backfill with enriched garden soil, press gently to remove air pockets, and water thoroughly.

For best growth and air circulation, space plants 5–8 feet apart.

    💧 Watering Needs

During the first growing season, keep the soil consistently moist to help roots establish. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely or become waterlogged.

Once established, White Althea develops a deep root system and becomes drought-tolerant, requiring water only when the top 2 inches of soil feel dry. Always ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.

    ☀️ Sunlight Requirements

Plant your White Althea in a spot that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily.

More sunlight means stronger growth and abundant blooms. While the shrub can tolerate partial shade, flowering may be less vigorous in lower light.

    🌿 Feeding the Plant

Begin fertilizing from the second spring onward using a slow-release, balanced fertilizer (such as 10-10-10) in early spring.

Avoid over-fertilizing, as excessive nutrients encourage leafy growth at the expense of flowers.

    ✂️ Pruning Tips

Prune in late winter or early spring, before new growth begins.

Remove any dead, weak, or damaged branches, and lightly trim to shape the plant or control its size.

Regular light pruning encourages stronger stems and more prolific flowering, keeping your White Althea looking neat and vibrant.
