We have been shipping plants like this for several years (plant are sometimes shipped in smaller pots for safety and ease of shipping). Most plants go dormant in fall and winter and will lose most of their leaves - looking dead and dry - very normal. They will flush out in spring.

The tree arrived safely. Packing and securing was first rate; great idea to tape the pot in place. :-) It's been almost 10 days since arrival and the tree is popping out new leaves on all branches. I will give it diluted Miracle Gro in a week, since the new growth indicates the root structure has taken hold already. I honestly wasn't expecting much of a plant due to the great price and free shipping, but you made a believer out of me. As 'Ahnolt' said..."I'll be back".
