    Plant Care Tips

🌸 How to Plant, Grow & Care for a Jeanne De Arc Double White Althea Tree

Add a touch of classical elegance to your garden with the Jeanne De Arc Althea Tree, also known as Jeanne d’Arc Rose of Sharon or Hibiscus Syriacus ‘Jeanne d’Arc’. This stunning flowering tree produces double white blooms with layered petals that appear from midsummer through fall. The luminous white blooms stand out beautifully against the rich green foliage, bringing a fresh, graceful look to entryways, borders, patios, and landscape beds.

With its reliable bloom cycle, easy-care nature, and attractive branching form, the Jeanne De Arc Hibiscus Tree is a favorite choice for gardeners who want a low-maintenance flowering tree that delivers long-lasting seasonal impact.

    🌿 Planting instructions

Choose a location in full sun and well-drained soil. Dig a hole slightly wider than the root ball and set your Jeanne De Arc Althea Tree so the top of the root mass is level with the surrounding ground. Fill in the soil, gently pressing to remove air pockets. Water thoroughly after planting, then add 2-3 inches of mulch to help retain moisture and regulate root temperature.

Pro Tip: The more sun your white double Althea receives, the more abundant and brighter the blooms will be thr-ughout the season.

    💧 Watering tips

Water deeply 1-2 times weekly during the first growing season to help establish strong roots. Let the top layer of soil dry slightly between waterings. Once mature, the Jeanne d’Arc Rose of Sharon is drought-tolerant, but occasional watering during summer heat waves will encourage continuous, full flowering.

    ☀️ Sunlight requirements

Plant your Jeanne De Arc Hibiscus Tree in full sun (6+ hours of direct light daily) for optimal bloom production and crisp white petal color. While it can tolerate light shade, less sun may reduce flower quantity.

    🌾 Fertilization tips

Feed in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer to support healthy growth and heavy blooming. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilizers, which can produce too much leaf growth and fewer flowers. Adding compost once a year will improve soil quality and plant vigor naturally.

    ✂️ Pruning Guide

Remove damaged or crossed branches and shape lightly if needed. Since Jeanne De Arc blooms on new wood, pruning encourages fresh growth and more flowers each season. Regular pruning keeps its form tidy and enhances airflow through the canopy.

    ❄️ Winter care

Hardy in USDA Zones 5-9, the Jeanne d’Arc Rose of Sharon Tree handles winter temperatures well. In colder areas, apply extra mulch around the root zone in late fall to insulate against deep frost. Avoid cutting back late in the season to prevent cold damage to new growth.
