    Plant Care Tips

    🌱 Planting

Choose a sunny to partially shaded location with well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and set the Ann Magnolia at the same depth as in the nursery pot. Backfill gently, water thoroughly, and apply mulch around the base—keeping it a few inches away from the trunk.

    💧 Watering

Keep the soil consistently moist during the first growing season to help establish roots. Once established, water deeply when the top few inches of soil feel dry. Avoid overwatering, as magnolias prefer even moisture without soggy soil.

    🌸 Fertilizing

Feed in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer formulated for flowering trees. Avoid heavy feeding, as magnolias grow best with light, seasonal nutrition.

    🍂 Mulching

Add a 2–3 inch mulch layer around the tree to retain moisture, regulate soil temperature, and reduce weeds. Use bark mulch, leaves, or compost, keeping mulch slightly away from the trunk to prevent rot.

    ✂️ Pruning

Prune after the flowering cycle to maintain a tidy shape and remove weak or crossing branches. Avoid late-summer or fall pruning, as it may remove next year’s flower buds.

    ☀️ Light Requirements

Prefers full sun to partial shade. Full sun produces the strongest flowering, while partial shade works well in hot climates.

    ❄️ Winter Care

Young trees benefit from a light mulch layer in late fall to protect roots in colder regions. Mature trees handle winter well once established.
