Description

Appalachian Spring Dogwood

Appalachian Spring (Cornus florida ‘Appalachian Spring’) is a standout native flowering tree that offers brilliant white bracts in mid-spring followed by glossy green summer foliage and clusters of red berries that attract birds in fall. This cultivar was selected for its exceptional resistance to dogwood anthracnose, a common disease in many native dogwoods.

Its upright growth and ornamental appeal make it ideal for woodland edges, cottage gardens, or as a specimen tree. It’s well-suited to native or naturalized landscapes where wildlife support and seasonal beauty are key priorities.

  • 🌼 Large, overlapping white spring flowers
  • 🛡️ Excellent anthracnose resistance
  • 🍂 Beautiful red fall foliage and fruit
  • 🐦 Attracts songbirds and pollinators
  • 🌳 Upright, oval canopy shape

Note: Prefers rich, well-drained soil and partial shade. Tolerates full sun in cooler climates if moisture is consistent.

Our dogwood arrived in excellent time- carefully packed for shipping- and delivered upright by UPS. We unpacked a healthy looking tree in full leaf and have planted in the garden. Looking forward to this growing into a mature tree over the next years.
