    Plant Care Tips

    🌱 Planting

Choose a full-sun location with well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and set the tree at the same depth as in the nursery pot. Backfill gently, water deeply, and add mulch around the base—keeping mulch a few inches away from the trunk for airflow.

    💧 Watering

Water regularly during the first growing season to help roots establish. Once established, the Arbequina Olive becomes highly drought tolerant. Water deeply only when the top few inches of soil feel dry. Avoid overwatering, as olives prefer dry, airy soil.

    🌸 Fertilizing

Feed lightly in early spring with a balanced slow-release fertilizer. Olive trees do not require heavy feeding—moderate nutrition promotes strong growth and fruit production.

    🍂 Mulching

Apply a 2–3 inch layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture and protect roots. Leave space around the trunk to prevent rot, especially in humid climates.

    ✂️ Pruning

Prune in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and remove dead or crossing branches. Light pruning improves air circulation and encourages better fruit yield.

    ☀️ Light Requirements

Arbequina Olives need full sun—at least 6–8 hours daily—for strong fruiting and healthy growth. They thrive best in warm, sunny locations.

    ❄️ Cold & Climate Tolerance

Cold-hardy for an olive tree, tolerating temperatures down to around 10–15°F once mature. Young trees will need winter protection in colder climates.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Arbequina Olive Tree produce fruit on its own?
Yes. The Arbequina Olive Tree is self-fertile, meaning it can produce fruit without needing another olive variety nearby. However, planting a second olive tree may increase yield.
How long does it take for an Arbequina Olive Tree to bear fruit?
Most Arbequina Olives begin producing fruit in 2–4 years after planting, depending on care, climate, and growing conditions.
Can I grow the Arbequina Olive Tree in a container?
Absolutely. This variety is extremely container-friendly, making it ideal for patios, balconies, and small gardens. Just choose a pot with good drainage.
What climate is best for Arbequina Olives?
Arbequina Olive Trees thrive in warm, dry climates and grow best in Zones 7–10. They tolerate mild cold better than many other olive varieties.

Olive trees require full sun - at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily for strong growth and maximum fruit production.
How often should I water an Arbequina Olive Tree?
Water regularly during the first year to establish roots. Once mature, olive trees prefer deep but infrequent watering and are drought-tolerant.
Are Arbequina Olives good for eating or just oil?
