Plant Care Tips

🌱 Planting Instructions

Locate the plant in an area with well-drained soil and adequate sunlight. Dig a hole that is twice the width and depth of the root ball. Place the plant so the root crown sits at ground level. Backfill with loose soil, gently pressing to remove air pockets. Water thoroughly after planting and apply a 2–3 inch layer of mulch around the base, keeping mulch away from the stem to maintain proper airflow and soil temperature.

💧 Watering Tips

During the first growing season, water deeply once or twice per week to encourage strong root establishment. Once mature, water when the top few inches of soil become dry, especially during hot weather. For container-grown plants, check moisture frequently and ensure proper drainage.

☀️ Sunlight Requirement

Arrowwood Viburnum performs best in full sun to partial shade. Provide 4–6 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal flowering and vibrant foliage. While it tolerates light shade, bloom production is strongest in sunnier locations.

🌸 Fertilizer Tips

Apply a balanced fertilizer formulated for shrubs and trees in early spring. Avoid fertilizing in late summer or fall, as this can promote tender new growth that may not harden before winter.

✂️ Pruning Guide

Prune after flowering in late spring to shape the plant and remove dead, damaged, or crowded branches. Occasional pruning improves airflow and keeps the shrub neat and healthy. Minimal pruning is required due to its naturally tidy growth habit.

❄️ Winter Care

Hardy in USDA Zones 3–8, Arrowwood Viburnum tolerates cold winters well without extra protection. For young plants, apply mulch at the base in late fall to insulate roots. In regions with severe winter winds, temporary wind protection may help prevent branch damage.
