Plant Care Tips

🌿 Planting Instructions

Ensure that the soil is well-drained and choose a sunny planting location.
Dig a hole twice as wide and deep as the root ball. Place the tree so the
roots are level with the soil surface. Backfill with loose soil, press
gently to remove air pockets, and water thoroughly. Apply a 2–3 inch layer
of mulch around the base of the trunk to help retain moisture.

💧 Watering Tips

Water deeply once or twice a week during the first year to help roots
establish. Once mature, the Celeste Fig Tree becomes drought tolerant
and only needs watering during extended dry spells. Container-grown
trees require more frequent watering, allowing soil to dry slightly
between waterings.

☀️ Sunlight Needs

Celeste Fig Trees grow best in full sun and require at least 6–8 hours
of direct sunlight per day for optimal fruit production. In cooler
climates, plant in a location that receives maximum sunlight.

🌿 Fertilizing Tips

Feed your fig tree in early spring using a balanced fertilizer formulated
for fruit trees. This encourages healthy growth and abundant fruiting.
Avoid over-fertilizing, as excessive nitrogen can promote leafy growth
at the expense of fruit production.

✂️ Pruning Guide

Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Remove
dead, damaged, or weak branches and lightly thin the canopy to improve
airflow. Annual light pruning keeps the tree compact and manageable,
especially for small gardens or container planting.

❄️ Cold Protection

Hardy in USDA Zones 6–9, the Celeste Fig Tree tolerates mild winters well.
In cooler zones, apply mulch around the root zone in late fall to protect
roots from freezing. Container-grown trees can be moved to a sheltered
location during harsh winter conditions.
