    Plant Care Tips

Planting & Care – Convallaria majalis (Lily of the Valley)

    Planting

Choose a site with partial to full shade and moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Plant rhizomes (pips) 1–2 inches deep, spacing them about 6 inches apart, and water thoroughly after planting.

    Watering

Keep the soil evenly moist during the growing season. Once established, Lily of the Valley is somewhat drought tolerant but performs best with consistent moisture.

    Sunlight

Prefers full to partial shade. In cooler climates, plants can tolerate gentle morning sun.

    Fertilizer

Feed in early spring with compost or a balanced fertilizer to encourage lush foliage and abundant blooms.

    Pruning & Maintenance

Remove faded blooms and yellowing leaves to keep plants tidy. This low-maintenance perennial spreads by rhizomes, so divide clumps every 3–4 years if they become overcrowded.
