    Description

🌺 Coral Bells Azalea: Abundant Coral-Pink Blossoms & Classic Bonsai Grace

Brighten your indoor sunroom, patio, or garden borders with the vibrant display of the Coral Bells Azalea (Rhododendron x 'Coral Bells' / Rhododendron kurume 'Coral Bells'). Celebrated as one of the most prolific bloomers in the famous Kurume hybrid family, this dwarf evergreen shrub produces dense clouds of luminous coral-pink, bell-shaped "hose-in-hose" flowers (one blossom nestled inside another) that practically conceal the foliage in spring.

Originating from Kurume, Japan, this evergreen variety features a naturally compact, finely branched habit and small, glossy, leathery leaves that take on a rich bronze-green hue in cooler weather. Its dense branching and naturally petite scale make 'Coral Bells' one of the world's most favored varieties for styling into traditional flowering bonsai art or keeping in decorative tabletop containers.

Arriving potted in a high-gloss glazed ceramic planter, this live flowering plant provides immediate ornamental charm. Whether maintained indoors on a cool, bright windowsill or placed outdoors on a shaded terrace, it delivers years of showstopping floral elegance.

    ✨ Key Features

🌸 Profuse Hose-in-Hose Blooms: Masses of vibrant coral-pink double flowers that blanket the plant every spring.

    Plant Care Tips

    ☀️ Light Requirements

For indoor growing, place the bonsai where it receives bright indirect light. Outdoors, it performs well in partial sun. Avoid placing the plant in harsh conditions that can stress the foliage and flowers.

    💧 Watering

Keep the soil moist but well-drained. Check the growing medium regularly and water when needed rather than allowing the plant to remain excessively wet. Avoid both prolonged dryness and waterlogged soil.

    🌱 Soil

Use a well-draining acidic soil mix. Azaleas prefer acidic growing conditions, so choosing an appropriate soil is important for maintaining healthy foliage and supporting flowering.

    🌡️ Temperature

This bonsai can be grown outdoors in USDA Zones 6–9. Protect it from frost and extreme cold. For indoor growing, keep it in a stable location away from sudden temperature changes.

    💦 Humidity

When growing the bonsai indoors, provide a comfortable environment with adequate humidity. Avoid placing it directly beside heating or cooling vents, which can create excessively dry or fluctuating conditions.

    ✂️ Pruning

Regular pruning helps maintain the compact bonsai shape and supports flowering. Remove unwanted or overly long growth with clean pruning tools while maintaining the plant's natural structure.

The product page specifically recommends regular pruning to encourage blooming and maintain shape.

    🪴 Repotting

Repot the bonsai when the existing growing medium becomes depleted or the roots need additional space. Use a suitable acidic, well-draining soil and avoid moving the plant into an unnecessarily large container.

    🌱 Propagation

Azaleas can be propagated through suitable vegetative propagation methods, but this bonsai is primarily purchased as an established live plant. For maintaining the existing plant, focus on appropriate light, watering, acidic soil, and regular pruning.
