Plant Care Tips

🌼 Planting

Place your Inaba Shidare Japanese Maple in a location with bright, filtered light to protect its delicate leaves. The Acer palmatum Inaba Shidare Japanese Maple thrives in loose, well-drained soil that remains lightly moist. Keep the root ball at the same depth as the container to help the tree settle in smoothly. Proper placement supports the tree’s signature weeping form and long-term health.

🫧 Watering

Young Acer Inaba Shidare Japanese Maple trees need regular watering, especially during warm months. Water deeply once a week to help roots spread. Mature trees require less frequent watering but benefit from moisture during dry periods. Consistent hydration keeps foliage rich and vibrant.

🌱 Fertilizing

Apply a light amount of balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring to support fresh growth without overstimulating the tree. Annual gentle feeding helps maintain full foliage and healthy size as the Inaba Shidare Japanese Maple develops.

🍀 Mulching

Spread 2–3 inches of mulch around the base to keep soil cool and moist. Mulching protects shallow roots, reduces weed growth, and encourages steady growth and consistent color through the seasons.

✂️ Pruning

Prune your Inaba Shidare Japanese Maple in late winter or mid-summer to refine its natural shape. Remove broken, crossed, or crowded branches to improve airflow. Light pruning helps maintain the tree’s beautiful cascading form and overall health year after year.
