Plant Care Tips

🌱 Planting Instructions

Ensure the soil is well-drained and the planting site receives plenty of sunlight. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, but no deeper than its height. Remove the Lady Stanley Althea from the container and place it so the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil.

Backfill gently, pressing out air pockets, and water thoroughly after planting. For best results, allow adequate space around the tree form to promote good air circulation and proper canopy development.

💧 Watering Tips

Water consistently during the first growing season to establish a strong root system. Once established, Lady Stanley Althea is drought tolerant and requires only moderate watering.

During extended dry periods, deep watering supports healthy flowering. Avoid overwatering, as soggy soil can stress the roots.

☀️ Sunlight Requirement

This althea tree performs best in full sun, producing the most abundant blooms. It can tolerate light or partial shade, but flowering may be reduced in lower light conditions.

🌸 Fertilizer Tips

Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth begins. One application per year is typically sufficient. Avoid excessive fertilization, which can promote leafy growth at the expense of flowers.

Soil fertility can also be improved naturally by adding organic compost or mulch.

✂️ Pruning Guide

Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth appears. Since blooms form on new wood, light annual pruning helps maintain shape and encourages fresh flowering stems.

Remove damaged, crossing, or weak branches to keep the tree-form althea clean and well-structured.

❄️ Seasonal & Winter Care

Lady Stanley Althea is cold hardy and requires minimal winter protection in suitable growing zones. Apply mulch around the base to regulate soil temperature and retain moisture.

In colder regions, young trees benefit from wind protection during their first winter.
