    Plant Care Tips

    🌿 Planting

Choose a location with full sun to partial shade and well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and place the tree at the same depth as the nursery pot. Backfill gently, water thoroughly, and add mulch around (but not touching) the trunk to retain moisture.

    💧 Watering

Water consistently during the first growing season to help the tree establish strong roots. Once mature, water deeply during dry spells. Avoid waterlogging, as magnolias prefer moist but not soggy soil.

    🌸 Fertilizing

Feed in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer formulated for flowering trees. Avoid over-fertilizing, as too much nitrogen can reduce bloom production.

    🍂 Mulching

Apply a 2–3 inch mulch layer around the base to maintain moisture and regulate soil temperature. Keep mulch a few inches away from the trunk to prevent rot and improve airflow.

    ✂️ Pruning

Prune lightly after flowering if needed. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Avoid heavy pruning, as magnolias bloom on old wood and severe cuts can reduce next year’s flowers.

    ☀️ Sunlight Needs

Prefers full sun in cooler climates and partial afternoon shade in warmer areas. Proper light improves blooming and keeps foliage healthy.
