Ligustrum Howardi

Another wonderful Ligustrum which makes an excellent large hedge, as well as a nice colorful accent plant. Like most any Ligustrum, can be pruned / trimmed to maintain a desired shape or size. Has very dark, deep, glossy green leaves - new growth is bright yellow turning to green with age. Even older growth retains a splash of yellow on many leaves. Mature foliage also has a very "wavy" appearance, and a very thick, almost leathery texture. Very sturdy strong foliage indeed.

  • Full sun for best color, will do well in partial shade also
  • Mature Height : 7 - 10 Ft
  • Mature Spread : 6 - 8 Ft
  • Zone : 6 - 10

  • A very striking variety that makes a great hedge, as well as an accent or container planting; deep green, glossy foliage with yellow-gold variegation lights up the landscape; best in full sun
  • No serious pest or disease threats - occasional scale has been reported in high humidity zones
  • Recommended Spacing : 3 - 4 feet apart for most typical hedge plantings that are intended to be kept at heights of 5 ft or more. Tighten spacing up to 2 1/2 - 3 ft apart for lower height hedging ( 3 - 4 feet high )
  •  It is very adaptable to both dry and moist growing conditions, but will not tolerate any standing water. It is considered to be drought-tolerant, and thus makes an ideal choice for xeriscaping or the moisture-conserving landscape.

Note: The plant is shipped in its pot, firmly secured with several layers of clear tape, thereby avoiding any shuffling and moving during transit. The plant reaches you with minimal damage- very safe and secure. We have been shipping plants like this for several years (plant are sometimes shipped in smaller pots for safety and ease of shipping). Most plants go dormant in fall and winter and will lose most of their leaves - looking dead and dry - very normal. They will flush out in spring.

We cannot send ship some plants and some sizes to California due to restrictions placed by department of agriculture.
