    Plant Care Tips

🌱 Planting & Care Guide for Morning Star Althea (Rose of Sharon)

Morning Star Althea, a beautiful cultivar of
Hibiscus syriacus, is a deciduous flowering shrub commonly known as Rose of Sharon. It is loved for its abundant white blooms and easy-care nature, making it a standout choice for sunny landscapes.

    🌱 Planting Instructions

Full sun and well-drained soil are best for Morning Star Althea. Gently press down your Morning Star Althea shrub into loose, fertile soil. Mulch should not be placed near the stem of a Rose of Sharon to prevent it from rotting.

    💧 Watering Tips

Regularly water Morning Star Althea Rose of Sharon during the first growing season to establish strong roots. During dry spells, mature Rose of Sharon shrubs benefit from occasional watering. Water container-grown plants when the topsoil feels dry.

    ☀️ Sunlight Needs

Plant your Althea Morning Star in a location that receives 6 hours or more of direct sunlight daily. Morning Star Althea requires plenty of sunlight to produce abundant white blooms. Shade may reduce the number of flowers on the Rose of Sharon tree.

    🌸 Fertilizing Tips

Spring is the best time to fertilize Morning Star Althea Rose of Sharon with a balanced fertilizer. This promotes strong blooms and lush green leaves. Avoid fertilizing late in the season, as it may encourage tender growth that could be damaged by frost. Proper feeding helps keep the Rose of Sharon bush healthy.

    ✂️ Pruning Guide

Early spring or late winter is the ideal time to prune your Morning Star Althea. Shape Rose of Sharon trees by removing dead, damaged, or crowded branches. Regular pruning encourages healthy growth and abundant flowering.

    ❄️ Winter Care

Morning Star Althea grows well in USDA Zones 5–9. Protect the roots of your Rose of Sharon bush from freezing by applying a thick layer of mulch around the base. Container-grown plants should be moved to a sheltered location during harsh winters. Proper Rose of Sharon care ensures your plant returns stronger each year.
