    Plant Care Tips

    🌱 Planting

Choose a sunny location, as the Nanking Cherry Shrub fruits best with full sun exposure. It also grows well in light partial shade. Plant in well-drained soil—preferably sandy or loamy—though it can adapt to most soil types. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and place the shrub at the same depth as it was in the container. Backfill gently and water thoroughly to settle the roots.

    💧 Watering

Keep the soil consistently moist during the first growing season to help the plant establish strong roots. Once established, Nanking Cherry becomes fairly drought tolerant, needing water only when
the top soil feels dry. Deep, occasional watering encourages better fruit production.

    🌸 Fertilizing

Feed in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer to promote healthy growth and fruiting. Avoid heavy feeding, as this shrub naturally produces well without much additional nutrition.

    🍂 Mulching

Apply a 2–3 inch mulch layer around the base to conserve moisture, suppress weeds, and help maintain even soil temperature. Keep mulch slightly away from the stems to prevent rot.

    ✂️ Pruning

Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth appears. Remove dead or damaged branches and thin out older stems to improve airflow and maintain shape. Light annual pruning helps increase fruit yield and keeps the shrub healthy.
