Plant Care Tips

☀️ Sunlight Needs

Place your tree where it receives 6 to 8 hours of full sun each day. Adequate sunlight encourages healthy growth and improves fruit quality.

🌱 Soil Requirements

Plant in well-drained soil, preferably sandy or loamy soil. Avoid heavy clay soils that retain excess moisture, as this can lead to root problems.

🌿 How to Plant

In-Ground Planting:

  • Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball.
  • Place the tree at the same depth it was growing in the pot.
  • Backfill with soil, firm gently, and water thoroughly.

Container Planting:

  • Choose a large container with drainage holes.
  • Use a high-quality, well-draining potting mix.

💧 Watering Tips

During the first year, water deeply once or twice per week to help roots establish. Once established, water only during extended dry periods. Avoid overwatering, especially during cool or rainy seasons.

🌸 Fertilising

Apply a balanced fertilizer such as 10-10-10 in early spring. Avoid fertilizing late in the season, as this can cause tender growth that may be damaged by cold weather.

✂️ Pruning Guide

Prune in late winter or early spring. Remove dead, broken, or crowded branches to improve airflow, sunlight penetration, and fruit production.

❄️ Cold Weather Tips

Nikitski Ranni is cold-hardy in USDA Zones 6–10. Protect young trees from severe frost by applying mulch around the base and using frost cloth when needed. Move container-grown trees to a sheltered location during extreme cold.
