    Plant Care Tips

    🌿 Pragense Viburnum Care Guide

    🌱 Planting Instructions

Choose a location with full to partial sun and well-draining soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and just as deep. Place the shrub so the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil. Backfill gently, firming the soil to remove air pockets. Water deeply after planting, then apply 2–3 inches of mulch around the base, keeping it a few inches away from the stem to prevent rot.

    💧 Watering Tips

During the first year, water deeply once or twice per week to establish strong roots. Once established, water only when the top layer of soil becomes dry. For container-grown plants, monitor moisture frequently and ensure proper drainage to prevent water buildup.

    ☀️ Sunlight Needs

Pragense Viburnum performs best with at least 4–6 hours of direct sunlight daily. While it thrives in full sun for optimal blooms and foliage, it also tolerates partial shade, especially in the afternoon.

    🌿 Fertilizer Advice

Apply a slow-release, balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth begins. Avoid fertilizing late in the season, as tender new shoots may be damaged by frost.

    ✂️ Pruning Tips

Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth fully emerges. Remove dead or damaged wood and thin crowded branches to improve air circulation. Light shaping after flowering can help maintain a neat appearance.

    ❄️ Winter Protection

Hardy in USDA Zones 5–8, this shrub withstands winter conditions well. In colder climates, apply a protective layer of mulch around the roots. If grown in a container, move it to a sheltered location during extended cold periods.

How tall and wide does a mature Pragense Viburnum grow?
A fully mature shrub typically reaches 6–10 feet tall and spreads 5–7 feet wide, offering substantial privacy and greenery. Its thick, branching habit fills in spaces and creates natural screening.
What USDA zones suit the Pragense Viburnum best?

What type of soil does it prefer?
Pragense does well in moist, rich, well-drained soil but is highly adaptable. Growth is promoted when the pH is between 6.0 and 7.5. A regular mulching program will help keep moisture in the soil and help prevent weed growth.

    Does the Pragense produce fruit?
While it flowers profusely, the flowers are mostly sterile and rarely set fruit. This means no messy berries to clean up - great for formal landscapes.
