FAQ's

Will the flowers stay red?

Yes, red hydrangeas keep their color best in neutral to slightly alkaline soil. In acidic soil, they may turn pink or purple.

Does it bloom on old or new wood?

Most red hydrangeas bloom on old wood, so prune only after flowering to avoid cutting off next year’s blooms.

Is this a true red flower?

Yes, this variety produces deep red blooms — much darker and richer than typical pink hydrangeas.

Can it grow in containers?

Absolutely! Red Hydrangeas are great for pots, as long as they receive morning sun and good drainage.

Is it good for cut flowers?

Yes — red hydrangeas add a bold pop of color to both fresh and dried arrangements.

Not happy.

The packages were sopping wet, causing the boxes to bend in the middle. One of the hydrangeas survived, but the other shows no sign of buds. The sugar maple, ordered at the same time, was loose in the pot and also has no buds. All of the plants appear to have been newly repotted, not allowing time for the roots to get established in that loose soil. The potting soil looked more like mulch than soil. My son and I have been moving shrubs to a new house and know what we are doing. We dug up two Atlantic white cedars, each about ten feet tall, and moved them to the new location. Both have new growth. You need to get your act together.
