    Plant Care Tips

    Planting Instructions

Choose a bright planting spot where the soil is acidic and drains well to support healthy Reka Blueberry growth. Create a hole twice the width of the root ball and just deep enough to match the plant's container height. Remove the plant gently from its pot and set it in the hole, making sure the top of the roots sits level with the soil. Refill the hole with soil, press down lightly to remove air pockets, water deeply, and apply 2–3 inches of mulch to help with moisture retention and weed control.

    💧 Watering - Needs

During the first season, water thoroughly once or twice a week to encourage root development. Once the plant is established, water only when the topsoil feels dry. Consistent moisture is needed during fruit development, but avoid soaking the roots. In containers, blueberries may dry out faster, so more frequent watering and proper drainage is necessary.

    ☀️ Sunlight requirements

A Reka Blueberry grows best in full sun, at least six hours each day. Adequate sunlight helps improve both the berry sweetness and plant vigor. Avoid shadowy spots, as limited sunlight can reduce flowering and fruit production.

    🌿 Fertilizing tips

Feed your plant in early spring with a fertilizer designed for acid-loving plants. Products intended for rhododendrons or azaleas are suitable options. Avoid applying fertilizer toward the end of the growing season, since it may trigger tender growth that won’t withstand winter frost.

    ✂️ Pruning

Trim your Reka berry in late winter or early spring, just before it blooms. Cut away damaged or thin branches to help the plant breathe better and maintain a healthy structure. Pruning yearly helps the plant stay healthy and produce more fruit.

    ❄️ Winter care.

This variety is hardy in USDA Zones 4 to 7 and tolerates cold climates. It is not necessary to take special care of the plant during the winter in most regions. For potted plants or in areas with very harsh winters, mulch around the base and consider moving containers to a protected spot when temperatures drop too low.
