Plant Care Tips

🌿 Planting

Begin by selecting a lightly shaded area where your Rhododendron ‘Tallullah Sunrise’ Native Azalea
can enjoy cool roots and filtered light. Dig a broad hole, position the plant slightly above soil level, and refill
using airy, organic-rich soil. Water gently to settle the roots, and add a thin mulch layer to help the shrub
establish comfortably.

💦 Watering

Keep the soil evenly moist during the first growing season as the azalea adapts to its new spot.
After it becomes established, provide deep watering whenever the surface soil dries. Consistent moisture supports
vibrant blooms and helps this native shrub thrive in a range of U.S. climates.

🌺 Fertilizing

Feed your Tallullah Sunrise in early spring with a fertilizer designed for acid-loving plants.
If the shrub is young or putting on rapid growth, a light midsummer application can support branching and future
flower clusters. Proper feeding encourages strong color and steady seasonal performance.

🍃 Mulching

Apply a soft layer of mulch around the root zone to lock in moisture and keep the soil cool.
Materials like pine straw, leaf mold, or fine bark work especially well for native azaleas. Leave a small gap
around the stems to maintain airflow and prevent excess dampness.

✂️ Pruning

Trim your azalea right after the flowering season ends, removing any twiggy, broken, or overcrowded branches.
This timing preserves next year’s buds and allows the plant to shape itself naturally. Light pruning improves
air movement and encourages cleaner, healthier foliage.

🪵 Soil Preferences

Rhododendron ‘Tallullah Sunrise’ grows best in loose, acidic, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter.
Amending the planting area with compost or pine fines improves texture and supports long-lasting root health,
leading to stronger blooms and improved growth in American landscapes.
