    Plant Care Tips

🌼 How to Plant, Grow & Care for an Althea Double White Bloom Tree

Brighten your garden with the timeless charm of the Althea Double White Blooms Tree, also known as the Double White Rose of Sharon Tree or
Hibiscus syriacus ‘Double White’. This elegant flowering tree showcases lush, double-layered white blooms that radiate purity and grace from midsummer through fall. Follow these simple planting and care tips to help your White Althea Tree thrive beautifully for years to come.

    🌿 Planting Instructions

Choose a sunny to lightly shaded location with well-drained soil for your Double White Althea Tree. Dig a hole about twice the width of the root ball and position the tree upright at the same depth as it was in the pot. Fill the hole with loose soil, press gently to remove air pockets, and water deeply after planting. Add a 2–3 inch layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature, keeping mulch a few inches away from the trunk to prevent rot.

    💧 Watering Tips

During the first growing season, water your White Rose of Sharon Tree deeply once or twice a week. Allow the soil to dry slightly between watering sessions to encourage deep root growth. Once established, this Double White Althea Tree becomes moderately drought-tolerant. In hot or dry weather, consistent deep watering helps sustain lush green foliage and abundant blooms.

    ☀️ Sunlight Requirements

The Double White Rose of Sharon Tree thrives in full sun but also grows well in partial shade. For the most vibrant blooms, ensure it receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day. Planting it in a sunny spot promotes vigorous growth and an impressive canopy filled with glowing white blossoms — a stunning sight in gardens, patios, or entryways.

    🌾 Fertilization Tips

Feed your Althea Double White Blooming Tree in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer to promote steady growth and strong flower production. Avoid fertilizing late in the season to prevent tender new shoots from frost damage. For organic gardeners, enrich the soil annually with compost or well-rotted manure to improve fertility and maintain healthy, nutrient-rich soil.

    ✂️ Pruning Guide

Prune your Double White Althea Rose of Sharon Tree in late winter or early spring, before new growth appears. Remove any dead, damaged, or crowded branches to allow better airflow and light penetration. This hibiscus variety naturally maintains a full, rounded form, so only light pruning is necessary. Regular shaping encourages fresh blooms and a tidy, elegant appearance throughout the season.

    ❄️ Winter Care

Hardy in USDA Zones 5–9, the White Althea Tree requires little winter protection once mature. In colder climates, apply a thick mulch layer around the base in late fall to insulate the roots from freezing temperatures. Come spring, your Hibiscus syriacus ‘Double White’ will reward you with vigorous new growth and pristine, double-white flowers that brighten your garden year after year.
